Learning to live life easier, one session at a time...
I am a licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have been working in the mental health field for about 20 years now and am passionate about helping others understand themselves and build personal coping strategies that are achievable and can be implemented into their daily lives to affect change.
Services provided at Turn the Corner are individual therapy, couples therapy and family therapy. Medicaid, BCBS and Sanford Health Plans are accepted Insurances. If you don't have insurance or a different insurance, still reach out and we can discuss alternative options to meet your needs.

Feeling uncertain about therapy, reach out to me and let’s have a conversation to help you decide if therapy is right for you. There is still a lot of stigma around engaging in therapy even though we have come a long way in recent years. There are still a lot of misconceptions about therapy like 'talking about your feelings'. Therapy is more than just talking about feelings. You are hiring a therapist for a service, meaning you should make sure they are going to meet your needs and expectations. You wouldn’t hire someone to roof your house if their slogan was, “I've never done it before, but I'll give it a try!!! Call me and let’s chat or figure out a time to meet to discuss your concerns with no pressure or obligation!! .
We as people are not naturally good at setting boundaries. Typically we set boundaries by telling others, here is my line of what I am not okay with and expect them to not cross it. Boundaries, set in healthy ways, are meant to protect us which gives us more control over holding the boundary. Telling someone not to cross our line is giving the other person control and hoping they make the choice we want them too. This is not very efficient. Set a healthy boundary, by telling the person what the issue is, what you expect from them and then what the consequence will be for them if they do not respect your boundary. Make sure the consequence you set is something you can follow through on!
I want feedback from those in our community I am here to serve and support The community I practice within. Send me your ideas and desired services and I will seriously concider if I have the ability to support those ideas/services. I will be offering groups in the future designed to offer education and a safe place to process through how identified topics are personally impacting you and how to empower positive change by learning appropriate skills and platforms to practice those skills for self improvement.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): CBT is a theory used in therapy to guide clients In identifying unhealthy thoughts that influence undesirable emotions and behaviors. Learning to reframe thoughts will improve moods and how we respond to the things occurring in our lives.
Psychodynamic theory: Psychodynamic theory supports clients in identifying unhealthy patterns and how to break them and replace them with healthier patterns.
Psychoeducation: Psychoeducation is learning what is mental health and how is it impacting us so we can build self awareness and insight into how to and what to change.
Ive learned more about how to be a well rounded therapist from clients and thier feedback. I have had amazing opportunities to work with people from all different aspects of life in a number of different settings. I have often heard things that are helpful is my sessions is just presenting as a person like everyone else and encouraging clients to have ‘homework’ as a means to actively walk out of a session and take a skill with you and a way to practice it until the next session. I have been blessed with finding a career I absolutely love and I don’t ever dread going to work. I am grateful to all those who have trusted in me to join their journey in facing their difficult and uncomfortable struggles as well as being able to celebrate the brighter side of self growth and change!
